Meet our Team...

Children don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care"

Teddy Rosevelt

At Mucky Pups, relationships are at the heart of everything we do.
We provide a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment where children can explore, play and learn at their own pace, guided by their interests and Early Years principles.
Our dedicated team is passionate about supporting every child, working closely with families, and supporting each other to create the very best environment for everyone.
Our team is made up of dedicated, enthusiastic people who genuinely love working with children. We are committed to creating a supportive, friendly environment where children can thrive, families feel valued, and staff work closely together to give their very best every day.

Jean
Owner/Manager

Before joining Mucky Pups fulltime I had over 24 years experience as a primary school teacher, teaching across all age groups from reception to year 6  and taking on leadership roles, including SENCO, Assessment lead and Early Years lead which has always being my real passion.
My husband and I own the company together, and in 2017 I made the move into the setting, supporting the team and later taking on the manager role in 2019.
Getting to know our children and their families really matters to me — relationships are at the heart of everything we do here.
Mucky Pups is very much a family setting, and once you’re part of it, you’re always part of it.

Steph
Deputy Manager

With over a decade of experience in early years education, I have developed a deep understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). As Deputy Manager at Mucky Pups, I take pride in supporting and leading our dedicated team to create an inspiring, nurturing, and engaging environment for every child. I love helping children learn new skills, from simple things like putting on their own coat to taking the next step in their learning journey with confidence. Every day at Mucky Pups is different, and it’s a privilege to work alongside such a passionate and supportive team in a warm, friendly, and fun atmosphere.

SENCO

I have worked in early years for over 10 years, and I continue to love every moment of it. I’ve recently completed my SENCo training and I am always keen to gain new knowledge.
Every day is different, and there’s always new experiences to be shared with the children. I’m a big advocate for the outdoors where I enjoy planting with the children and encouraging their independence and building their resilience during this. Mucky Pups is truly a big family - where our oldest children become big brothers or sisters and it’s amazing to see them thrive in these roles!

I love working in early years and being able to support children to reach their goals. Since starting at Mucky Pups I have completed my level 2 apprenticeship and am now working towards my Level 3.
I enjoy sharing my love for art with the children and encouraging them to be as creative and imaginative as possible.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family, reading and painting

SENCO Champion

Helping as a volunteer during Covid allowed me to realise that this was the career for me.
Since starting as an apprentice I have gone on to be awarded a Level 3 diploma and am now qualified as a Level 3 Senco so I now support Emma in her role as SENCO.
I have loved forming bonds with all the children and seeing them learn and develop in my short time so far as been very rewarding.
In my time away from nursery I enjoy being active, playing rugby and cricket for local teams.

Clare
Interplay Lead

Working with children has been a huge part of my career for over 10 years and a passion I have always wanted to pursue since I was little. It is such a rewarding job working at Mucky Pups and being a part of each child’s first step into education, seeing them grow into independent, imaginative explorers.  I also work in the After School Club and Holiday Club as “Little Group Leader” which means I am very lucky to continue the adventures and work closely with the children throughout their school journey too as well as creating close link with all the families and means the children and families get to see a familiar face too!

Having done Childcare at college I knew it was a career path I wished to go down ; especially in early years. Having home-schooled during Covid I knew I had a passion for children's learning and development.
Since working at Mucky Pups , I have loved forming bonds with the children and seeing them achieve new things as they grow...which will continue.

Working with children is truly what makes me happy. I have been involved with children from a young age, starting as a volunteer when I was 16. In 2022, I began working with children with disabilities within youth care, an experience that offered me countless meaningful and valuable learning moments. All of this took place in Belgium, where I built a strong foundation in care and support.

Today, I am excited to continue growing within a different care system, embracing new challenges and learning opportunities. I am naturally very eager to learn and always open to developing myself further. In my free time, I love being creative, as it allows me to express myself and recharge.

Having taken a break from childcare whilst I had my children, I have returned to my first passion of childcare. Both of my children attended Mucky Pups and I am excited to be working here, getting to know the children and staff here as a keyworker and colleague. Once I am established I wish to further my professional development by taking on a Level 3 qualification.

Mel -Superhero

Mel comes to support the team whwnever we need an extra pair of hands, when staff are ill, om courses or we go on trips etc.
She comes in at the drop of a hat and saves the day!
My passion is childcare and I work at Moorside in the compny's other After school club.
I love covering at Mucky Pups when needed and bring my fun, passion and creative ideas when I am here.

Your child’s keyworker could be one of the lovely people you’ve just met above. They work in teams to support each cohort, providing consistency and care. Each keyworker really gets to know their children and families, nurturing individual interests and helping children feel safe, confident and ready to explore. We look forward to getting to know every one of you personally and working with you to support your child’s learning and development.
Supporting our team is just as important as supporting the children. We encourage ongoing training and professional development, and work together to share skills and knowledge so everyone can continue learning while providing the very best care for our children.
