"Today is the day to learn something new"
“Good attendance supports children’s learning and development, promotes their wellbeing, and ensures families do not miss out on their entitlements.” – Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
At Mucky Pups, we know that attending regularly and on time helps children feel secure, build confidence, form strong relationships, and be ready for their next stage of learning, including school. Following the EYFS guidance, we encourage families to make the most of every session so children can benefit fully from the rich experiences and opportunities we provide

Why Good Attendance Matters
Regular attendance and punctuality have many positive benefits for young children, helping them feel secure, confident, and ready to learn.
Building Good Habits
Coming to nursery consistently helps children understand that going to their setting is part of the daily routine. Attending every booked session helps them get a feel for the rhythm of the week, creating a sense of security even as activities and learning experiences vary.
Developing Secure Relationships
Children who attend regularly find it easier to build and maintain friendships with other children and develop strong, secure attachments with their keyworkers. For families, regular attendance can also provide parents with time to manage other tasks, helping them enjoy quality time with their child at home.
Boosting Confidence and Self-Esteem
Children who attend consistently and on time feel confident and included. They know what to expect, understand routines, and have more opportunities to be praised for their unique contributions. Children who miss sessions or arrive late may feel like they have to catch up, which can affect their confidence and enjoyment.
Supporting Learning and Development
Our staff carefully plan every session to help children thrive. Experiences gained in one session are often built upon in the next, so regular attendance maximises learning opportunities. Play, exploration, and interactions with peers and adults all contribute to development, and children who attend consistently are better prepared to achieve their potential.
Staying Involved When Away
We understand that children can’t always attend due to holidays, illness, or family reasons. Parents can stay involved by following learning on the Famly app and sending photos or messages. If your child can’t attend, please let us know as soon as possible by email or phone.
