“Teaching should be such that what is offered is perceived as a valuable gift and not a hard duty.”
— Albert Einstein
What our Together Times are for...
Our Adult-Led Together Times are gentle, focused moments where children come together to learn key skills that support their development. During these sessions, our staff introduce early maths, pre-phonics, language, values and emotions in fun, interactive ways. We use stories, songs, movement and hands-on activities to make learning exciting and meaningful, helping children build strong foundations while still feeling relaxed, engaged and happy to join in.
Planning for Every Child...
Our Adult-Led Together Times are carefully planned to match each child’s age, stage and individual learning needs. We often work around an overarching theme that runs through the setting, so all children are exploring the same big idea — for example, a number song or a story — but each group accesses it at a level that’s just right for them. From our youngest toddlers to our oldest pre-schoolers, activities are thoughtfully adapted so every child can participate, enjoy and succeed. This approach ensures that learning is purposeful, achievable and enjoyable for everyone, while building a shared experience across the whole setting. You can view examples of our planning [here] to see how we tailor learning for every child.
How We Practise These Skills Through Play...
After Together Time, children have lots of opportunities to explore and practise what they’ve learned within our enabling environment. Staff thoughtfully bring these new ideas into the children’s play — offering invitations to explore, providing resources that spark curiosity, and gently supporting conversations and problem-solving. Whether they’re counting natural objects outdoors, spotting sounds in books, talking about feelings, or practising turn-taking with friends, children deepen and embed their learning in a way that feels natural and joyful.
Together, this blend of focused teaching and rich, playful experiences helps children grow in confidence, curiosity and readiness for their next steps.
