Gardening and Feeding Time

Since the weather has been really nice recently, we have made the most of it and made sure that we have all got outside to spruce up the garden.  We also need to keep an eye on the bird feeders and top those up too.  Every so often, we like to get the motion sensor wildlife camera out over the day and night, and we usually get some really great photos.
The children have planted some vegetables in the big planter with Natalie, and since then, we have made sure that they keep topped up with water.

While we wait for our vegetables to grow, we are going to have a nice tasty salad for snack, prepared by the children, for the children.  It gives us chance to talk with the children about where some of our food comes from and learn about how important it is to eat healthy.

Baking!

Since the work has almost finished on the new kitchen, we have been able to make cakes!

The new oven alows us to do more with the children now, and, keen to test it out, Natalie has already baked three batches of cakes with the children, they were really good, YUM!

Christmas Party!

The party at the end of term in December involved lots of fun.  We played musical statues, bumps, did some dancing, pass the parcel and other fun games in the hall.  After the party, we had our party food, but we did it a little differently this time.  We uaually set out two tables full of food (seperate vegetarian table) and allow the children to come up one at a time to choose what they would like to eat.  This year we thought we'd have a treat, by plating up the food beforehand and setting them out on the tables in our canteen area in the building.  The children loved seeing a different part of the building and getting to sit with their frinds for a diverse meal!

Eating the produce!

All the children got to try some of the radishes we grew!
It was an interesting experience for some of the children as this was the first time they had tried it.

Our Vegetable Patch..

This term we saw the first of our vegetable patch goodies being harvested.  We started small this year and only planted a few different vegetables as we wanted to see how we got on.
As the photo shows though, we did really well and managed to produce a small but edible crop of radishes!
